The Art of Reinvention
This post is the first in a series of ten that are currently being featured on LinkedIn in honor of the Crossland Group’s 25th Anniversary.
It’s been so gratifying for our team to reflect back on Crossland’s twenty-five years of illuminating truth, disrupting systems, and choosing curiosity over comfort. The real story lies in how often we’ve chosen to reinvent ourselves. Whether it’s deepening our journey around equity, designing a new process, or reimagining a part of the business, holding up the mirror and infusing fresh thinking into our work has distinguished us as a firm.
There have been many moments throughout the history of Crossland when we’ve shown that we’re not afraid to question and change up things that seem to be working. Were we all doing “OK” working five days a week every week? Yes. Did we think it would greatly benefit us to only work four days a week every other week? Yes. So, we changed our hours. Did it work “OK” to respond to RFPs even though we believe it to be a flat process that didn’t provide a lot of authenticity? Yes. Would it be better to stop responding to RFPs and come up with a more human-centered way of getting to know a new client and have them get to know us? Yes. So, we stopped responding to RFPs altogether.
The key for us over the past twenty-five years has been paying attention to what’s going on around us. Whether it’s a global pandemic, the dawn of artificial intelligence, or political divides, we’ve learned how to evolve and transform our work to meet the moment. Our tough times have shaped who we have become and the work that we take on. As we look back, we believe that this innate ability to reinvent our ways of working, what we offer, how we care for ourselves, and the opportunities we choose is the main ingredient in our “secret sauce.”
